Teeth whitening is a popular, effective, and easy-to-use treatment that can offer patients an almost instant boost and lift to their smile. Having a whiter, brighter smile is more popular than ever these days, but there are so many options around that it can be hard to know where to start.

By offering dentist-approved home-based teeth whitening treatments here at Newholme Clinic, we’re able to provide our patients with a safe and effective way to achieve the pearly white smile they want.

What exactly is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening treatments use a bleaching agent such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide to whiten and brighten the teeth safely.

How does the treatment work?

Using a whitening tray to protect the gums, the teeth whitening gel is placed inside it, and then, depending on the strength of the gel, the patient will wear the tray for an hour or two a day or overnight.

The bleaching agent then penetrates the teeth’ enamel and breaks down the discoloured molecules there, leaving them looking brighter and whiter.

How long does the treatment take to produce results?

Most home-based teeth whitening treatments take two weeks to take effect and need to be worn every day or every night in order to achieve results in this timeframe.

What is the treatment process like?

Patients are fitted for their trays here at the practice and then bespoke-made just for you so that you can be sure they will be comfortable and secure when wearing them at home. You’ll then wear them at home, either for a couple of hours a day or overnight for two weeks.

How much whiter will my teeth be?

This will depend on the shade of your teeth at the beginning of the treatment and will vary from patient to patient.

How long do results last?

Results from home-based teeth whitening treatments usually last for up to six months.

How can I help prolong my results?

To maintain your whiter smile once the treatment is over, there are also teeth whitening serums and toothpaste available, and you can always easily ‘top up’ your treatment in the future using your existing whitening trays.

My tooth extraction was dealt with professionally and with compassion. I was constantly asked if I was alright and if I was feeling any pain. Everything was explained to me before the procedure and also what I needed to do after the procedure. Pedro is fantastic I used to have a phobia of going to the dentist but he is so kind, patient and gentle and I really don't mind my visits now. Jo is a brilliant hygienist my feel teeth do good after my reqular visit to her.I cannot recommend this dental practice highly enough I wouldn't go anywhere else all the staff are lovely.

This is a truly welcoming dental practice. The staff are all really friendly and helpful from reception to the dental team. The Clinic is clean and well set out and is a welcoming environment. I saw Jurate Vietrenkiene and she and her assistant were very kind, reassuring and knowledgeable. I was greeted by a very personable receptionist and seen on time by the dentist. The dentist conducted his examination of my teeth without causing me any discomfort, unlike previous surgeries where the dentist seemed to take great delight in poking my gums with a sharp implement. As a first time patient at Newholme, i was pleasantly surprised with how nice the interior design was, extremely clean and welcoming. Everybody that I know goes there.If you can get in, then sign up; Ana is off on maternity leave, but thereis a kind and caring lady dentist covering for her.I used to really dread going to the dentist, but not any more.

Does anyone like going to the dentist? Probably not but the dentists here do their best to make that experience as good as possible! The surgery is bright and clean with good reception staff. The dentist that I see is a fantastic man who clearly loves his job and does everything he can to make your appointment less tense and scary. I have had a couple of fillings and a root canal and crown and the work done has been very good.Visit this dentist, feel good about your teeth!

New owners are Portuguese, so don't get confused with dentists there from the past. I am terrified of dentists, but my teeth were in need of work, I had 2 painlessly removed and some other work all without pain. I have now got my wife going there who also is terrified of dentists but she like me had no pain having the work done. Without a doubt the best dentist I have used.
